Our Classes
Here at DDC we train our students in an array of different dance styles. The young performers will be under the guidance of our distinguished faculty, being exposed to industry leading choreography as well as the fundamental techniques of each genre.
Conditioning - Classes aimed at improving strength, flexibility, endurance, and the overall physical fitness of dancers, enhancing their performance and reducing the risk of injuries.
Open Ballet - Includes structured lessons that emphasise classical ballet techniques, including barre, center work, and progressions, aimed at developing strength, coordination, grace, and precision in dancers. It is an absolute fundamental for all other dance styles and is highly encouraged at DDC.
RAD Ballet - RAD Ballet is renowned globally for its excellence in dance education, combining classical ballet technique and artistic expression through set syllabi. At DDC, students wishing to take their RAD examinations are required to enrol in at least two RAD classes per week, but it is recommended to accompany this with open ballet and/ or pointe. This ensures comprehensive training and readiness for these prestigious examinations.
Contemporary - An expressive style that combines elements of ballet and other movement techniques. Contemporary emphasises fluidity and strength through a tactile approach, whilst encouraging individual expression and artistic exploration.
Lyrical - Combining technical foundation with the skills of contemporary dance, lyrical showcases expressive movements that convey the lyrics and mood of a song, allowing dancers to convey their emotions through movement and performance.
KTJ (Kick, Turn, Jump) - KTJ is an energetic and vibrant class which focuses on technical progressions used in all styles of dance. This class goes hand in hand with Jazz and Conditioning, furthering and challenging a dancers skill set.
Jazz - Dynamic sessions that focus on developing strong technique, rhythmic precision, and coordination. Our jazz classes at DDC incorporate a mix of traditional jazz, broadway jazz, and commercial jazz, with a focus on learning combinations with the skills learnt in KTJ.
HipHop/ Commercial - Dynamic and versatile training sessions that combine the energetic and rhythmic elements of hip-hop with the commercial appeal and stylised movements of jazz dance seen in music videos and live performances. This style incorporates a wide range of urban-inspired choreography, isolations, and performance-oriented techniques.
Acrobatics - Acrobatics is a dynamic and physically demanding art form, blending elements of gymnastics, dance, and circus skills. These classes emphasise strength, flexibility, balance, and coordination, in learning new tricks, partnering, etc.
